Jetblack USThis glossary explains the key terminology used across the JetBlack Safety product range, including cleaning stations, booths, filtration systems, and safety features. It is designed to support understanding the technical terms used throughout our website and documentation.
Cleaning Station: A de-dusting unit that uses blower-powered, low-pressure, high-volume air to remove dust and debris from workwear and PPE. Available in portable or wall-mounted formats as a safer alternative to compressed air.
Portable Cleaning Station: A compact, mobile version designed for flexible use in workspaces. Includes a flexible hose for targeted de-dusting of clothing or equipment.
Wall-Mounted Cleaning Station: A fixed-position unit for entrances or cleaning zones, with a hose and push-button operation often featuring a pre-set timer.
Nozzle & Hose Assembly: The air delivery system; hose lengths vary by model (e.g. 2.5 m portable, 1.5 m wall-mounted).
On/Off Switch: The control button to activate the unit, often with timed operation.
Plug-and-Play Installation: Requires minimal setup and no specialist installation.
Replacement Motor: A spare part used when the original motor requires replacement.
Cleaning Booth: A semi-automatic system using filtered, low-pressure air to de-dust clothing and capture airborne debris.
Personnel Cleaning Booth: A free-standing booth with a manually operated JetBlack Safety Cleaning Station inside.
Hands-Free Cleaning Booth: Features six reciprocating nozzles that provide full-body de-dusting automatically.
Hybrid Cleaning Booth: Combines manual and automated air delivery in a single booth unit.
Booth Extractor: The built-in extraction system with pre-filters and HEPA filters to capture particles.
Outdoor Use Cover – Cleaning Station: Stainless steel cover protecting wall-mounted units from environmental exposure.
Outdoor Use Cover – Booth: Weatherproof cover for booths used outdoors.
1Ph / 3Ph Power Options: Single-phase for standard setups, three-phase for higher industrial loads.
Recirculated Air System: A closed-loop air system that filters and reuses internal air for efficiency and cleanliness.
Reciprocating Nozzles: Moving nozzles that distribute airflow across the body during automated cleaning.
Static Neutralisation Emitter (Optional): Ionises airflow to eliminate static, useful in plastics, paper, and electronics environments.
Dust Bag: Collects particulate matter inside the extraction unit. Requires regular inspection and replacement.
Extraction Unit: The blower and filtration core that removes airborne dust, ensuring safe air quality.
Filter Cartridges: Replaceable filters in Cleaning Stations, typically changed every 3 months for optimal performance.
F9 Pre-filter: Captures coarse particles and extends the life of the HEPA filter by reducing clogging.
HEPA H14 Filter: Final-stage filtration that removes 99.995% of particles ≥0.3 μm for clean environments.
Compressed Air: A high-pressure system not recommended for personnel cleaning due to safety risks and regulatory restrictions.
Low-Pressure, High-Volume Airflow: JetBlack's safer alternative to compressed air, used directly on people for de-dusting.
COSHH: UK regulations for controlling exposure to hazardous substances like dust in the workplace.
HSE: The Health and Safety Executive, regulating safety practices and equipment use in Great Britain.
OSHA: The US agency responsible for enforcing workplace safety. Regulation 29 CFR 1910.242(b) restricts unsafe use of compressed air.
